Online CPD Session: Soil Carbon, Regenerative Agriculture and Farm Data: Navigating the Opportunities and Risks
Exploring the role of soil carbon, regenerative agriculture and farm data in supporting sustainable land management, while considering the opportunities, risks and practical implications for farm businesses.
Guest Speakers:

Ian Gould is an independent voice in farming, with a focus on natural capital, soil carbon, conservation agriculture and cover cropping. Co-founder of Oakbank Game and Conservation (2004–2025), he now works with Beyond Zero, helping farmers and land advisers separate real, high-integrity carbon and natural capital from the noise — measured properly, at farm level, under the UK Carbon Code. An experienced speaker known for straight talk rather than sales pitches, Ian enjoys challenging audiences to think beyond their current parameters. His view is refreshingly blunt: plenty in this market wouldn’t survive a soil test, and net zero isn’t the finish line – it’s the baseline.

is Head of Farming Systems at Regeno, where he leads the scientific methodology and on-farm validation behind Regeno’s data verification platform. He is a Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) and Fellow Advisor at the Society of Agriculture (FASAg). George is currently completing a Professional Doctorate at IBERS, Aberystwyth University, researching soil ecology and carbon dynamics in grazing systems. His PhD is sponsored by Yeo Valley and Agriton. George brings over 10 years’ experience working with farmers and corporates to co-develop sustainability strategies that make sense at the farm gate.
