is the Managing Director of Elveden Farms Ltd in Suffolk, this includes a substantial and varied in-hand farming operation growing a range of crops, two public houses, forestry, hedge and Christmas tree business, a residential and commercial property portfolio and various other commercial and charitable activities. His previous experience has included working in rural businesses in every region and most soil types in England, from Dorset to Northumberland.

Jeremy was Chairman of Essex CMA back in the day and was on the main Board for several years. He was a Founder Member of the Institute of Agricultural Management. He has been involved with business management in agriculture for over 40 years.
After a science degree at Oxford, Jeremy joined the Ministry of Agriculture, firstly as an adviser in the field and then in Whitehall in several policy areas, including working directly to Ministers. For the last 30 years he has been farming a wide range of crops, together with other diverse enterprises, in a 2500ha family partnership in Essex. In Scotland his business – Dell Estate – includes a let livestock farm, sporting and holiday lets, fishing, forestry, carbon capture and several renewable energy projects.
Jeremy is Chairman of the Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust and of its experimental farm (The Allerton Project). He was Chairman of the Essex branch for 7 years.
He is the 2026 Master of the Worshipful Company of Farmers, President of Essex CLA, and has been Vice-Chairman of Governors at Writtle University as well as President of both Orsett and Rochford Agricultural Societies. He was appointed Deputy Lieutenant for Essex in 2019.
Jeremy is a Chartered Biologist, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology, the Royal Agricultural Society, the Royal Geographical Society and the Chartered Management Institute.
