Module 1: Developing Myself

Understand who I am, what motivates me, how to use my time effectively and remain resilient in an ever changing world.

Aims

The module aims to facilitate trainees to:

  • Engage in reflective learning practices
  • Develop new or refresh skills in the topic areas shown below
  • Help create pragmatic action plans for real world application – in both the workplace and life in general
  • Learn from and with peers in a safe and supportive environment

Topics

The 3 interconnected topics covered in this module will include:

  • Self-Awareness
    • Who am I and what motivates me?
    • How do my motivational drivers differ from those I lead or work with?
  • Time Management
    • How to become a ‘Productivity Ninja’?
    • Who or what are my ‘time bandits’ that steal my time away – and how can I claim back more time and be more effective in my working day?
  • Building Personal Resilience
    • How well do I ‘bounce’?
    • What causes me stress and is it within my control?
    • How can I become more resilient when times are tough?

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the day each trainee will be able to:

  • Understand how perception and preference drives behaviour and actions
  • Recognise motivational drivers for self and how this may differ from others
  • Have clarity about personal time management and practical techniques to improve effectiveness
  • Consider a personal action plan to develop resilience and ‘bounceability’
