Module 6: Managing Risk

Learn how to prepare a business case and how to exploit opportunities while managing financial, operational and marketing & brand risk.

Aims

The module aims to facilitate trainees to:

  • To Identify business opportunities for farmers
  • To understand why customers buy and value your products compared to your nearest competitors
  • To explore and understand how to develop a strong brand value proposition
  • To appreciate the importance of marketing to a farm business

Topics

The topics covered in the module will include:

  • Exploiting business opportunities
  • Understanding how to market your business
  • The importance of image and promote brand benefits that differentiate from the competition

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the day each trainee will be able to:

  • Assess opportunities for farm businesses and how to exploit them
  • Understand farm benchmarking and the benefits it offers farm businesses
  • Understand and address marketing risks for your businesses to maintain a competitive edge and sustain growth
  • Evaluate the importance of marketing and image to a farm business
  • Develop a marketing strategy for a farm business
