Learn how to flex your management style and approach to maximise individual performance, motivation and team effectiveness.
Aims
The module aims to facilitate trainees to:
- Engage in reflective learning practices
- Develop new or refresh skills in the topic areas shown below
- Help create pragmatic action plans for real world application – in both the workplace and life in general
- Learn from and with peers in a safe and supportive environment
Topics
Using a situational approach to the management of others, this module will explore:
Coaching
- How is this different from other forms of support?
- Effective Questioning & Listening skills
- The importance of rapport and trust
Motivation
- What motivates us and whose responsibility is it?
- Managing demotivators
- Using Emotional Intelligence to engage others
Flexing your style
- Identifying employee development levels
- Matching your style to their level
- Assessing competence and commitment
Teams
- What is a team?
- Stages of team development
- The importance of team dynamics
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the day each trainee will be able to:
- Understand the core principles of managing others, including how competence and commitment influences their management approach.
- Apply a Situational Management framework to flex their style appropriately across different individuals and tasks.
- Develop practical skills in coaching, delegation and motivation to enhance individual and team performance.
- Use emotional intelligence to manage relationships and interactions more effectively.
- Use team dynamics to improve collaboration, balance strengths and address performance gaps.
- Develop a personal action plan to apply the workshop concepts to their own management situation.
