John Fegan is Chairman of the Northern Ireland Institute of Agricultural Science. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Agriculture and an MSc in Business Economics, both awarded by Harper Adams University.
John began his career as a Scientific Officer at the Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute in Hillsborough. In 2018, he joined the College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise (CAFRE) as an Agricultural Lecturer, teaching across a range of courses from vocational programmes to honours degree level. More recently, he has moved into a new role managing contracts and procurement for CAFRE’s farms.
John has been a committee member of the Northern Ireland Institute of Agricultural Science (NIIAS) since 2021 and became Chairman in 2025. NIIAS is an organisation for professional graduates who work, or have previously worked, within Northern Ireland’s agri-food industry. The organisation has various links with the Society of Agriculture, and John hopes to build upon and strengthen these connections during his tenure as Chairman.
