The Head of Climate Mitigation Science provides authoritative scientific leadership to support evidence-based policy for achieving Net Zero. This role coordinates and integrates research and analysis across key sectors: agriculture, forestry, biomass, peat and soils, waste, wastewater, and fluorinated gases (F-gases), to ensure Defra’s policies are underpinned by robust, credible, and actionable evidence.
