Defra has published a new Organic Action Plan for England, setting out a 10-year strategy to strengthen domestic organic production, develop market opportunities and support the growth of the organic farming sector.
Published on 14 October 2026, the plan outlines how government and industry will work together between 2026 and 2036 to increase organic production, strengthen supply chains and improve understanding of the environmental and economic benefits of organic farming.
Developed in partnership with the English Organic Forum, the strategy includes an ambition to increase the proportion of agricultural land managed organically in England from approximately 3.4% towards 10% by 2036.
