A Trusted, Independent Voice in Defra’s SFI 26 Stakeholder Engagement

Published on February 9th, 2026

The Society of Agriculture has been invited to contribute to Defra and RPA stakeholder discussions on the future design of the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI 26), following the Secretary of State’s announcements at the Oxford Farming Conference.

This engagement reflects the Society’s established role as an independent professional body, representing practical, evidence-based experience from across the agricultural sector. The Society is not a lobbying organisation and does not promote single-interest positions. Instead, it brings together informed professional insight from those working closest to farm decision-making and scheme delivery.

Peter Walker FASAg and David Meredith FASAg are representing the Society in this confidential engagement, ensuring that Defra has access to balanced, technically informed perspectives grounded in real-world delivery.
