Present Consultancy Practice

4 years as trainee Farm business consultant with ADAS – 2003-2007. Learning the trade and delivering into projects such as the original Farm Business Advice Service. Also began delivering some England Catchment Sensitive Delivery initiative visits as what we know today as CSF commenced in 2006.
15 years with SAC Consulting. Only worked in North of England, and not in Scotland. Alongside individual client work, I lead on bidding for and delivering 2 North west Development Agency contracts between 2008 and 2012; one to train advisors in nutrient management (delivered alongside Fieldfare Associates) and one to deliver on the ground animal health planning with vets and farmers across the North West. Also bid for and managed the England BVD stamp it Out project. I therefore have experience of bidding for and managing multi-million pound DEFRA contracts.

I lead the SAC bids to get onto Natural England's delivery frameworks between 2006 and 2022, under which I submitted bids for multiple MiniTenders across the North east, the North West and Yorkshire. I was a key deliverer in all of the secured contracts, delivering visits covering Entry level Stewardship, SFP/BPS transition, Mid Tier, Soil management, Nutrient management, water pathway management, infrastructure auditing, slurry and manure storage, whole farm plans and ammonia emissions. Alongside one to one visits, i delivered clinic sessions and workshops to groups.

in 2014, following earlier work with Fieldfare Associates, I encouraged SAC to purchase Fieldfare when the owner decided to retire, and between 2014 and 2022 I delivered FACTs and BASIS Soil and water courses across the Country, alongside "pre FACTs" training.

With SAC, i secured funding through the Future Farm resilience Fund to undertake free carbon auditing to farms in the North west of England. SAC created Agrecalc, and as such in my latter years with the organisation I became well acquainted to completing carbon audits on farm.

In 2022, I joined GSC Grays as a Rural associate, and helped them to establish their Future farm Resilience Funded project; the Farm Business Advice Service. I then went on to deliver to over 200 farmers that registered for FBAS, undertaking business analysis to support their progression under the Agricultural transition.

With GSC Grays, I also became established in completing Agricultural land Classification reports on bhalf of developers, primarily in County Durham.

I am now onwer of Northern Agri Consulting. I am an independent advisor, aiming to provide core support to my existing client base, dveelop BASIS training opportunities and continue to service ALC work wherever possible.
