This senior leadership role offers the opportunity to shape the future of agriculture and environmental education within a leading land-based college, based at impressive facilities in the South East of England. As Director of Agricultural Education you will lead the strategic direction of the department, delivering a forward-thinking vision aligned to evolving industry needs. You will oversee both curriculum delivery and commercial provision, ensuring high-quality teaching, strong student outcomes, and long-term financial sustainability. A natural and proven leader, with excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, you will work closely with employers, industry bodies, and professional networks to build impactful partnerships that enhance the organisation’s reputation and influence at both regional and national levels. Role Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategic direction of Agricultural and Environmental Studies, delivering a forward-thinking vision aligned to evolving industry needs
  • Develop and sustain impactful partnerships with employers, industry bodies, and key stakeholders to inform curriculum design and enhance real-world relevance
  • Oversee curriculum delivery and commercial provision, driving growth, innovation, and long-term financial sustainability
  • Inspire, lead, and develop high-performing teams, promoting a culture of continuous improvement, professional development, and succession planning
  • Champion excellence in teaching, learning, and assessment, improving student engagement, progression, and achievement outcomes

Skills you will need:
Essential:

  • Relevant degree or professional qualification in a land based related sector
  • Experience in curriculum delivery, teaching, or assessment within education
  • Proven experience leading change and managing teams
  • The ability to inspire and drive performance and continuous improvement
  • Strong sector knowledge within agriculture and environmental studies
  • An excellent communicator with strong stakeholder engagement skills
  • Strong people management skills
  • Highly organised with excellent problem solving skills
  • Highly collaborative and team focussed
  • Passionate and committed to student success
  • Strong computer and IT skills

Desirable:

  • Leadership qualification
  • Masters degree or PhD
